1/9 Monte Cristo 13m

I thought with the winds being 30-35 at Pow Mow that I could ride at Monte today. The winds were marginal for my 13m and there is still sage sticking up in places. However, there is also lots of terrain where the sage is covered or not growing and the snow in those places was nice and creamy. The marginal snow cover is soon to be a non-issue when this next storm dumps. Monte is good to go now if you can just find a day when it is windy there. The terrain is vast and varied.
My personal experience in picking days to go there is to look for winds at Pow Mow to be at least 25 and preferrably about 30. Those prefrontal days where the wind is predicted to increase through the day and be fairly gusty. It is only about 3 miles ( but 1000 ft lower) from Pow Mow as the crow flies. The only problem is the crow has to drive and that takes about 45 minutes.

Well, I met them last year and they are kiters. They are a fairly young and well connected group. I feel that development was inevitable. At least they share an ecological view-and they kite!
I have retired but still travel a bit for my consulting job. I have been out kiting probably 5 times this year. Pineview just might be good tomorrow for the whole reservoir-speed runs!

Augie,

Tomorrow morning should have the conditions you desire. The wind turns NW in the afternoon and the snow starts, so get it early!
