I was thinking it was going to be a bust. Where did this wind come from? 27 gusting 28 on a morning when I expected to be lucky to make the 7.0 work. Oh yeah, any other year this would just be standard Grants wind. I was evening having some nail-biter jibes on the 6.0 and 86L in the SE corner. Had a half hour of all I could handle 7.0 (rigged based on a 19-22 reading when I arrived), finally getting picked up off the water, rigged the 6.0 in the blink of an eye, and then was really totally powered for some screaming reaches. Finished out with some 7.0 rides in the normal up and down winds finally quitting at 10:00 as clouds were closing in. Sweet morning. I wish I knew how to predict these events. May not have made it if Penny had thrown me out of the house a little after 6:00. She just said go act like a retiree. Finished off in UWA fashion by picking up a bag of trash. How many Sailors would just throw a used propane cylinder on the ground when it is empty. Too bad they did away with the dumpster at the campground.
