4/6, UL Saratoga, Wow!, 4.7/5.2/86L

I didn’t feel like driving too far so I was hoping UL would go north. When I saw Tooele valley and Dugway start ripping I headed south. Winds were 21mph on the dike. I was on the water a little after 3:00 on the 5.2. Only lasted 4 round trips and came in for the 4.7. By then it was 23 on the dike and big rollers everywhere. Even the 4.7 was maxed out but I stuck it out for some wild rides further out than I should have gone without a babysitter. I wished I had the 76 liter glass board but not expecting this much wind. Still, where the water was flat, the little iSonic race board was screaming and where the rollers formed, it was turning down the wave faces like a wave board. Sailed until 6:00 in excellent quality wind; lots of wild gusts but only dropped off a plane once near the end. Had a great time. Eric showed up about 5:00 and went out on his 4.0. It was 55 degrees the whole sesh and the water seems like hot-tub water compared to Grants. The feet stayed warm but the hands suffered some windchill. Went down 200 yards offshore and the mast stuck in the mud while it was at a 45 degree angle. We will be able to stand everywhere pretty soon. Last time I was on the 4.7 was at Mojave. Quite a difference; Mojave clear enough to see 8’ down and watch fish swimming while you can’t see 8 mm into Utah Lake. I noticed the gear was covered with a thin film of mud when I was derigging. Still, 40 minutes back home, can’t beat that.
