Deer Creek Sailboat Beach 9/25

Missed the Grantsville session today because when I looked it was reading 0 so went to breakfast with Dimitrije and Duane. After looking at the puny reading on the indicators (the Deercreek predictors and the dam site readings) DK and I decided to tempt the wind gods and go anyway. We were rigged and ready by 1:45 but at 2:00 pm the wind line coming over the dam was as bad as the earlier readings, confirming we were about to be screwed and we were!! Never got on a plane but enjoyed the great scenery and a cold brew before heading for home.

Meanwhile, back at IB - conditions were pretty much the same as at SBB. I arrive relatively late to the sight of Dave O (8.0, I think) and Josh (7.0) enjoying a leisurely cruise. Glad I brought the 9.5, because it was clearly what was called for. And even with it, I could count the number of episodes of planing on one hand. The wind did pick up a bit a little before 5 but then quickly backed off again. Early in the session Billy flew by on his foil board, inciting envy in all of us old poleboarders.
