Sneaked in a surprise Grants morning, didn't last long, but good to get wet. Arrived about 7:30, and we even debating about rigging 5.2's, as the wind seemed to be fairly strong. Rigged 5.8 instead with the 85L board, and got 2 planning reaches, before we could see it in the cards that we needed to go bigger. Rigged 6.5m 112L, Ken on a 7.0, and enjoyed an hour or so of mostly planning reaches. The wind started to lighten up, as Ken outdid me with his 135L, and we eventually cashed it in about 9:45. The lake is 120 yards from the fence... ugh, quite a walk, but still enough water for a fun reach and jibe training. Hard to get a read on the wind from the parking area, when you are that far from the water.
And add to that some fairly funny wind, probably a result of the wind curling down into a "hole", which will only get worse, as the lake gets smaller and smaller... A couple of kiters showed up at the end, to play around with some body dragging in light, puffy wind.
