Had an interesting afternoon at strawbs. Arrived around 12:30 to snow still falling and wind around 10-12mph. The lot hadn't been plowed yet and had ~14 inches of snow. Drove thru it with snow coming up over the hood. Face shots in the car! Got set up and headed out on my 15 waroo. as soon as i headed out, the clouds parted and i found myself under blue skies, not a single track on the riding area. while there was plenty of wind to fly the kite, it was pretty slow going in snow that deep. I started re-tracing my path back and forth and could get some speed as long as i stayed in my previous tracks. after 10 or so round trips, my tracks had widened to a 5ft wide swath, and as long as i stayed in that, riding was fine. It was funny to see how far downwind of that path i would land on jumps, and then have to work my way back to the path. made one run up the big hill to the south. on the leeward side of the hill, snow was waist deep. rode for about 2 hours. overall, not bad, but with another 5mph of wind, it would have been epic.
