3/28 Pow Mow

Postby Augie » Mon Mar 31, 2008 7:52 am

The wind was about 20mph from the south. Perfect direction and speed. I was teaching my neighbor Chet again and he was doing great. Hank called while I was kiting but never showed up. Chasta and his crew showed up and we had about 5 kites going at once. While packing up, I took my eye's off of my ski's and they took off down the drainage. I had to walk down a long way to find them. Chasta gave me a pull back to my kitebag since he was already doing laps with his daughter while she was on her snowboard. He said Monte winds were too light for him that day. Good day and great company. It is still winter up there- barely any melting going on.

Auggie, after a few days gone by, that is funny.

You were there to hear this story the other day, I'll tell it for amusement. I was doing a lesson at the riding area with a guy. His girlfreind was out near the middle taking pictures. While I was getting the guy going on a different set up, the girl disappeared. I didnt see her head back and couldnt imagine where should could be. The guy said she had to use the bathroom, and sent her down the drainage to the lodge???? "I think this successfully concludes our lesson today" and explained the mistake (for those not familiar with Pow Mow, nothing is down the drainage, except adventure, and fortunately Pow Mow road). She was a snowboarder, I expected difficult times down there, while either walking back up or continueing down to the road. I followed her out but didnt find her. Turned out she was very capable, made it out to the road, and hitched back up to the lodge quickly.
