rode from 3:30-8pm powered - great session!
many kites in the air from 9m - 16m
good to see many of the locals, a few newbie's - learning - doing well
i love that sandy bottom.
i don't like sand bars - i think i hit everyone of them in the area if anyone wants a map
is it going to blow again tomorrow?

I rode down the street at Lincoln tonight. I didn't see any kites up at SSB as I drove by, so decided to try out Lincoln while I still can. "BMW guy" was there drift launching his kite. He can back with a ball of kite, said it needed more air. Got a launch myself on the 10m and played in the swell. Rode the shore break out at the north west point, some actually decent waves at that spot. Headed back in after a few hours to check on Beamer. He was getting a launch from someone and finally got out riding. Played in the butter the rest of the night until the wind started heading east. Is it my fault if whenever I try a rotation the board flies off, or just crappy bindings or lack of heel straps? I don't think I've seen anyone use heel straps in Utah, but seems like I need them.
Beamer got a bit of riding in and then crashed the kite. I saw him try and relaunch in the dirt. He hot launched it luckily in sub 10mph winds. I talked up some Billy lessons earlier, hope he follows through with that. I felt bad I didn't take any time helping him out, but I haven't had many days on the water this year.
Hope SSB was fun. I'm waiting for the water to go down a bit more before I go there, too much fun riding the flat water at Lincoln.

mike-

i was having the same problems last night. i finally thought i got front and back rotations dialed until last night. timing was off and i felt like i kept getting swamped by waves. best advice i can give from my troubles last night is think pop first and rotations second....

had a great time as SSB last night. i'm loving strapless after toying around with bill's old wakeskate. it's a great break from straps and feeling like you need to boost all the time.

it was great to see everybody, especially those coming back from injuries. it's frustrating, but just remember you are still riding.

thanks constance for the hot doggers! it was great fuel for a second session that just never materialized.

I used to have the same problem with rotations. Mike May's advice is spot on "pop first and then rotate". Not only will that advice make it easy to keep your board on, but it will also help save your knee joints from being torqued. The other question - would have for you is are you trying to do wakestyle rotations or are you sending the kite? Wakestyle rotations are more like a flip, while sending the kite allows for a flat spin.

I've been sending the kite and trying to do a slow backside rotation. The minute I swing the board around it flies off my feet. I end doing the running man for style points. It does happen more often when I wear booties, but I've tried riding Lincoln without and prefer keeping the bottom of my feet. Maybe I will try it front side and see what happens. Hope to get out again this Fri. or Sat.

Curl your toes or lose the board
