8-27-08 Provo Boat Harbor

Postby Josh Shirley » Thu Aug 28, 2008 9:25 am

Arrived after 6pm. to meet up with Laura. She is progressing really fast and has decided to leave to the Carnary Islands for some really wind. Carl was rigging his 9.? The wind was really consistent.

The boat harbor needs a better launch into the lake. Any ideas?

Tried Saratoga first. Not worth rigging. Windtalker saved the day when it reported 12 @ PBH. So, in the name of science, I drove over and sailed until after sunset. Quick tack session practice as I sailed out of the marina for a change. Good for technique but a way out at the south end of the forebay would be great. Guess the engineers who designed the park don't understand vectors, as in, they may not understand how things work if they don't have a gas powered engine.

I'd have done that but there were at least 3 boats of fishermen clogging the mouth with their lines going every which way. They can get kinda unruly if you snag their gear. Be careful, they can get worked up. One time they started throwing rocks if provoked, (personal experience). Anyway, the tacking was good for me.
