9/7 Sulphur 15m Waroo

I spent the weekend up at Bear Lake, which would be a beautiful place to kite if there had been any wind. You could easily kite there on any direction wind. Wide open sandy beaches run either N/S or E/W. Shallow for a long way out. Water was almost a carribean blue, but water temp felt like it was @ 60 degrees. Travel time from Park City was 2hrs, guess it would be about the same from SLC, so not a bad drive.

On the way home, it was looking pretty windy in the evanston area, so i went down to have a look at sulphur. wind was averaging @ 20mph, but was pretty gusty at about 10-25. The water level has dropped quite a bit and there is now an actual beach (kinda muddy) that you can set up and launch from. Its currently pretty kiter friendly as long as you can stay upwind, and not the end of the world if you can't, but you'd have to walk back around the cove. Put up the 15, which worked pretty good most of the time. A couple of short lulls left me sitting in the water for 20 seconds, but never longer than that and the kite never fell out of the sky, and on the other end, a couple of 30mph gusts left me hanging on with some very wide eyes. The water is pretty cold at this point. I was in a 3/2 suit and was pretty cold after an hour or so, and i was doing all i could to stay out of the water. Recommend a 5mm or dry suit at this point up there.
