New Year Day at Strawberry River

Postby Jacob Buzianis » Thu Jan 01, 2009 8:16 pm

Kody and I got there around 10am. No wind. We knew the wind was coming. We pump up 14m Nemesis HP and 15m Waroo One Pump. Mark showed up. He decided to check out Chicken Creek

The wind came on at 10:30am. We went out and hour later Utah kite crew start showing up as day goes on. Mark, Ben, Constance, Billy, Kenny, Mike Rossberg, Jason, Marty, Marv, Tyler, Josh, Jason klein, Sarah and dozens of kiter out. I lost name.

The snow was rough by the Parking Lot. Farther out the Snow was good and still plenty of powder out there.

What epic day to see everybody!

I saw Dave took his biggest boost today. He didn't realize how big he could go on snow then on the water.

Yes, it was a great day there. I think I counted about 15 kites there in the afternoon. I spent a lot of my time over by the highway because there weren't as many snow mobile tracks over there. It is amazing how often I heard vehicles passing by hitting the "warning vibrating bumps" on the side of the rode. What are these people looking at as they drive by?!!! ;-)

Great day, Thanks to Kenny for the ride up. Rode a 13M all day and loved it. It's sad to say the last time I was on a kite was in June. It's good to be back hooked in to some power. My legs are going to feel this day for a while.

I flew my 13m Bullaroo for about four hours. Wow, Strawbery is awsome. This was my first time there. It was good to see so many kiters and most everyone was having a great time.

Wind was good today albeit gusty and the snow was great in places, cut up in others. It was cool to see so many riders having fun at Strawberry River.

I am hoping that Saturday will be a repeat, but with fresh snow!!!

I checked out Co Op creek or what some call Chicken Creek .The snow coverage was bad so I came back to the River.
Got some nice but gusty rides. I had a chance to show off a little for my Brothers family that was out snowmobiling.
Fun day but I am going to feel this one today.

Love that new twisted board. The WSW wind allowed us to ride along the road on the leeward side of the snow fences where the snow was good. Definately prefer the board over skis at this point. Great day to start off my season. Thanks Marty for the ride!

Let me add my name to the list as well. What an awesome day! It was my first real session on the snow and I had a blast. (My first snow experience lasted about 5 minutes with an abrupt bladder puncture to end it.)

About an hour into my session I ended up in a major wind shadow between two hills and I wasn't about to hike out of there in the powder. :x After an hour of struggling and frustration I managed to break free and boy did it feel good! I guess I needed all that practice launching a kite in low wind conditions on a slope. ;)) I finally made it back to the parking lot, exhausted but totally stoked for the next time.

I met Ken (thanks for the launch) and talked to Billy and few others. Great crowd out there yesterday!

It was a challenging 1st day out for me, but at least I got the kite in the sky, and a few rides. Jacob, thanks again for the ride back to the parking lot, that was soooo coool. You make it look so easy. It was fun to meet more of the snowkiting crowd. Constance it was fun meeting up with you...gurl power. Billy nice to meet you again, thanks for the encouragement. It was great to see some familiar faces, and meet some new faces, out enjoying the wind. Lot's of happy faces.
