The wind was blowing great starting about noon so I thought I would give it a try. Willard Bay State park is full now which means almost no beach to launch from so I decided to try the bay on the west side of Willard bay. To get there, take the VERY BUMPY dirt road on the south side of Willard Bay and then go up the west side about half way. (Refer to our Google map of kiting locations) It took about 20 minutes just on the dirt road. It is about 3-4 miles.
The wind died about the time I got setup (then came back about an hour after I left.) In the mean time, I paddled around in a raft to get some water depth readings. Every reading I got was within a few inches and about 25-26". The bottom doesn't feel too bad as far as sinking in. It is fresh water although it looks like it is part of the Great Salt Lake from satellite images. The launch isn't the greatest but the fact that it is a consistent 2 feet deep sure makes it nice. I look forward to trying it again with hopefully a more consistent wind.
