Snowkiters in Texas

Postby windzup » Fri May 08, 2009 9:40 am

Spring in Texas is a good place to be... and there are a lot of familiar Snowkiter faces enjoying the warm water and non stop wind out here. Pretty much all the states on the I-15 corridor are represented.
Today is the 15th day on the road and its calling for 40mph winds.
We've flown everything from 8 meter to 15 meter Instincts during the trip, and its been windy EVERY SINGLE DAY.
No wetsuits yet, just board shorts.
Today we are back in Corpus with the US Nationals racing. There are some fast riders out here, kicking out 5 mile runs in 15 minutes. Chip Wasson is currently 5th place overall flying his 09 Edges.

Obviously this is not a Utah report, but there are enough Utahn's down here to post about it.

I used to drag out winter...but now I can see heading south every April to get a jump on the water season. (Of course theres the Snowkite Last Call on Memorial Day in Wyoming).

There was also a huge kiteboarding demo in Padre, where Heather and I were able to test and purchase several new boards that we will be bringing back for Utah kiters to test fly. There are some really fun new shapes out here.
