Arrived at 1:30, looked like 7.0 (20-30 mph), but backed off quickly as I finned up, so rigged the 7.6 (105 liters) , kinda dicey (strong)
for a while, then totally nuts as it went 28G37. Stuck upwind and freezing, finally a couple holes and made it back. It looked like
15-20 on the water, but the wind meter confirmed. Rigged the 7.0, and had a few G40 to deal with, but the wind backed off
and evened out as the sky darkened with heavy clouds. Got a solid hour+ on speed course flat water and 20-26 type wind, a few
holes, died out about 5. Sailed no gloves and tried not to fall. Put gloves on the last 20 min, warm hands and pumped forearms.
The wind earlier under partly cloudy skies was really punchy/freaky; later it was progressive, the gusts building gradually.
