I arrived around 4pm Darrin and Clancy were out on 4.5s. I slowly rigged and watched the wind pick up quite a bit. So I rigged a 4.7. Jim H showed up about that time and rigged his 4.7 as well. I sailed well powered and over powered. The wind rapidly switched to the North. Luckily I was on the shore when it happened. The water is still too cold to swim in.

I've traveled around the backside of Utah Lake and seen large white clumps of something around MM19. Is that snow in the picture?
There is only one or two on the etire lake.

Great season opener/ice-breaker.
Sailed with Clancy, Jim, and Josh for about 3 hours on a 4.5, and my 75 liter board.
Not as cold as I expected. I wore booties(boo), but no gloves.
Piles of ice, flukey winds, and a rescue 911 call at the end just to make things interesting.
Unlike Josh, I was unfortunate enough to be way on the outside when the frontal switch came in. I was stuck in swirly winds for about 30 minutes before catching a 3.0 gust out of the north into the beach. Ended up about 2 miles south from where we launched.
Good to have concerned friends on the beach. Could have gone much worse.

I owe you guys a beer.
(That's not snow, it's large chunks of ice that were deposited on the beach when the ice broke up)

fun sail ,good to get out . Punchy wind but good ramps and waves to ride.Big relief to find Danger on shore after the very fast wind shift.
