After the snow piled up for 2 days, the sky's cleared for an amazing powered up bluebird day at Skyline. Looked like mid winter with tall snowbanks and creamy top surface. Fresh tracks everywhere, until the dozen or so kiters tracked up Boscos main face. A couple riders hit the main ridge, and I went down wind up and over Boscos to discover the South wind had filled in the back side perfectly. Rode solo for an hour back there before heading back around (had to hike a 1/2 mile to get around a wind shadow and back in the wind game. By late afternoon the snow turned to spring conditions and started to pack down and thicken up (time to re-wax).
At around 3pm the wind picked up to solid 10m conditions and I had a lit time exploring a new spot "the Secret Stash". Summit-ed the small ridge, and kited as far in each direction as trees and wind would allow, and then packed up for a nice down hill run back to the truck.
Truly amazing to be in the mountains with so much fresh snow this late into spring. Here's a cheers to all the Snowkiters that have taken advantage of these conditions in May, it fills my stoke to see so many riders getting after it... here's to the good times.
Windzup,
Brian Schenck
