Solstice UL Lincoln

Postby MikE mAy » Tue Jun 22, 2010 7:19 am

Had a fantastically relaxing evening with Jason last night down at Utah Lake. i left Salt Lake at 6:15 which i think may be the latest i have ever left to kite. arrived about 7:15 (no traffic) to see Jason Morton heading across Sal Padre on his SUP as the wind was filling in. pumped my 13 and promptly headed out on my new 5'0 SS arcane. what a trip the lake is on a short strapless board. i felt like i was a newbie again for a while but quickly got the hang of it. the arcane works well. i think i'm going to put some bigger fins on it as when the wind came up the tail felt a bit squirrly, but perhaps that is because it has so much volume and i'm not used to riding a surfboard. i full on had to work at not pointing it too far upwind. this thing really can crank upwind if you let it. it rides waves like a dream and i can't wait for a stronger day to ride it on.

Jason rode his race board for a while on his 15M and quickly traded it out for a twin tip. the wind was uncommonly smooth last night and i think we got off the water at 9:00 with plenty of light to de-rig to. what a great solstice night riding.

Great way to beat the back to work, monday blues. Went for a paddle at 6pm down in Sal Padre hoping to get a better perspective in the search for Jason K's lost board. No luck there. Can't believe the wildlife down there. Unbelievable. It was a symphony of wildlife sounds. Birds, frogs, crickets, carp. The carp!!! OMG!!! There were so many carp. I was smacking them with my paddle. The redneck in me was wanting a bow and arrow with the spool thingy attatched to it. Paddled up the river for a bit as well. Felt a breeze kicking in so back I went. Can't believe no one else came out. Hairdryer steady. Board shorts. Classic UL. Just Mike M. and myself. Lots of wakeboarders. BTW we were at Lincoln not Lindon. Looked like Dean pulled in and left? Haven't seen him in awhile. Perfect summer solstice evening.

Thanks for thinking of me. Finally gave up and ordered a new board yesterday.
