One truly NASTY outing for me. I discovered gravel in my mast when the base reached half way. It took some serious time and effort to get the base back out and clear the gravel. By then I was going to miss the wind! &^#@ quick rig mode! So I proceed to force the mast into the sail sleeve and it ripped through about a foot short of the top cap on my favorite sail &^#@!!! I’ll have to fix that later. I drag the gear into the water and notice I'm feeling weak and light headed. I was wearing a 2mm shorty (for buoyancy, sun, rash etc.) Hot sun, hot wind, hot water, over exertion and to top it off I didn’t hydrate well before going sailing. Not good. I soaked for a bit thinking that would fix me up quick, but I was parched and it wasn’t helping, so maybe some wind would help? You know, evaporation and stuff. I caught some good rides, but I had to take it easy. I never did get to feeling strong again, not until I stopped for a post session slushy. I am mindful to avoid hyperthermia in spring/fall, but hypothermia? It is depressing to have decent wind and not feel normal. I just couldn’t get well enough to feel aggressive. Oh, and someone was out SUP’n looked like fun, but not as much fun as I was having.
