Grantsville Brunch session 8-6-10

Postby Josh Shirley » Fri Aug 06, 2010 1:57 pm

Solo session at the pond. I had a feeling that the wind would start late.
I even brought some recently acquired swag to hand out, but no one was there.
I was on the water at 10am and got off at noon. Although the graph doesn't seem that windy I was able to sail my 5.2 on the 100 liter.

workout schedule:
- 10 planning jibes
- 10 fast tacks
- 10 carving 360's on each side
- 10 haas tack attempts.

Short reaches mean lots of turns.

Pretty great day on the water.

Able to knock out a few 360's on port and starboard. I figured out that I was staring at the sail, which is a bad idea. Body goes where the head goes. Started looking at the horizon keeping my head and body up, that seemed to do the trick.

Hit my first port haas tack. Which I am stoked about. I think I am catching the concept of where to place my feet. Best time to try them is when the wind gets a little holey. So towards the end of tomorrow's sesh I try some more.

Tomorrow is looking like another good one.

I watched the wind meter on iWindsurf and it looked good. Glad you could get it. Where was the graph forecast that you posted from? it looked good for the weekend morning sessions. It would be instantly gratifying (from our offices) to have cam on Grantsville Res. to see the Jibefest.
