Rolled in to S River to find more wind than expected. The NOAA point forecast showed wind from 10-11 mph from W to N. About 6 kites were in the air and it looked good. I headed to the gliding hills right away and threw myself off some stuff. Plenty of power, no trouble getting across the flats. After a while I went south to the hill above the highway and hung out there with a guy that had a big Naish kite. The wind died around 330 - but came back up after a few minutes. Had a spectator or two pull over on the highway and check us out. Billy showed up around 4 and then wind shut down right around 420. Packed up and skied to the highway. Billy hitched back and then picked me up. A VERY good day considering the uncertainty of the forecast. Snow is still in good shape, crust here powder there. I don't think it will repeat today.
