3/31 Mixed Bag of Strawberries Zephyr Big Skis

Got to the River relatively early today. Good thing too. Was thinking about rigging the 13. It was certainly windy enough for that. But I knew the snow would get heavier, so I went with the Zephyr. The snow was soft, and for the first 1.5 hours it was great. Soft snow, fairly gusty wind, reasonably fast surface with fresh wax. Good jumps, big 'ol glides and a solid "gust to oversteer to Pete Townsend style head-to-snow-smashing."

Lots of people ripping shit up today. Some out of towners bouncing all over the place with loopy glides. Really good stuff...

Then it got hot. :^^

I should have left 30 minutes earlier. The trip back to the lot was gusty and with the sticky snow it pretty much sucked. You could jump really high when you unstuck, but landings offered "sudden deceleration syndrome." I was really tired so I was a bit jaded. Overall a great day that I would do again and again. Show up early if there's wind. I don't think it will freeze hard if it freezes at all tonight.

Stumper and I both logged around 30 miles, starting at Chicken Creek around 11am, with 15m kites up. Wind was great, snow was good till it got warm and soft - we quit around 1:30. Beautiful day!
