4/10, Strawberry River, big kites again

Postby Leo Chan » Sun Apr 10, 2011 7:16 pm

Arrived at 11:30 to find John Guay already having the place to himself for an hour. The visibility was good most of the time. Wind was in the light side. But the 13 worked well for me. Could have pumped the Kahoona. But I am not complaining. The snow was great and lots of people get to enjoy it. Sarahs, Linda, Momo, Greg, Warren (out of town) Jimmy, Melissa and her husband Cam all got rides. It was such a fun day. It has been a wonderful season at Strawberry. I am going to miss this next winter!

The River was good all day on the Zephyr but that first hour was sweet. Really good snow and the visibility was good enough. If anyone was at the View Area how is the ice? It was looking scetchy a few days ago.

VA was great! Probably the last place to clear out... Great snow on the hills and the lake was fine this afternoon. Actually the terrain was more filled in than ive seen all winter. The parking lot is buried.

Sick sick sick. Epic day at the river. Snow started off a bit funky with an under layer but changed to buffness as a few squals put down a little groupple. Vis was never great but there were moments of glory. The smoothness was mind blowing even in flat light. Back doored the upper bowls as pure north allows. All and all a super sick day. I feel like it is good to go tomorrow if the flow is still holding. Snow quality is insane. Get it early as the sun is not our friend.

Linda and I joined the River crew, and had a good time. The snow was really nice, and the wind stayed on most of the day. We both rode on our 11's. My only complaint was that we got tired a bit too fast, and had to stop, leaving really nice conditions, and wind still blowing.
