11-15 Silver meadow

Rode silver meadow this afternoon on 9m. Its pretty much on there with mostly a foot or more of coverage. The riding area is pretty limited because the top half of the hill is covered in sage. But if the wind is up you can ride lower on the hill and meadow with only moderate paranoia of thrashing gear or limbs. Good little wind lips for slashing.

Hwy 35 is still open and clear. Drive past Woodland and park at wolf creek summit and skin or hike the snowbound road to the north at the silver meadow sign. Up thru the gap in the Pines. It's less than a 10 minute walk with skis and the snow is thin enough on the road right now that you can walk it in snowboard boots. Bonus- you can ride back to the car without hiking for the return. Look for a N-NW wind and watch for rocks lining both sides of the road. Wish I had some pictures or video to share, it was a great season opener for me, Go check it!

Also worth checking out the top of duchesne ridge above wolf creek campground but its maybe double the hike and higher up.

Location on Google Maps... because some people have asked. The Marker is the kiting area. You have to park on 35 at the road junction.
