Have been motor-sleighing, aka machining, aka Slednecking, up the various canyons around Skyline. Up to this past week you could park the trailer on pavement just outside of each Sanpete town and ride up to the ridge top on pretty good snow. The canyons have captured and preserved the powder. While most the riding areas are small and only good for a couple riders, we have discovered some bigger areas with more usable terrain the farther we ventured. Heres a pic from 20 plus miles in at the south end of the wasatch plateau. The 3rd image with the sleds shows the sidehill terrain, still rocky but will be a great playground soon.
Jake Walker joined me on this particular mission... did you know he was Utah's original Snowkiter, flying a 5m Edel on handles at Strawberry sometime in the mid 90's... this boy's been around. Speaking of Badgers, he's been chased by one on his paraglider above Strawberry... we don't need no stinking badgers!! Chalk up another first for this guy, as he had his kite out and was ripping terrain that no sane kiter would have been to.
BTW- There has been 2 feet of untracked powder on the access roads in many of these canyons, making the sledding just as memorable as the kiting. In these dry times, its been nice to not be stuck near a parking lot.
