Jan 15, skyline- combat kiting.

Been waiting for freshies, but the wind forecast was so good, we had to try. Like always, flying kites and wind powered boarding is fun and gives big smiles.... But the surface conditions were not forgiving. what looked like powder pockets on the lee side slopes was mountaineers ice , aka french verglass. Once in a while the crust would give in allowing your stick to dig into sugar just before planting your face into ice, usually stopping with rocks close enough to have your hand on the chickenloop.

Wish I wore my pads and armor. Glad to have helmet on, as I used it a couple times. Full on combat kiting the surface conditions.

Felt shameful showing the spot off to a first time utah snowkiter from idaho, I kept appoligizing , told him someone pissed off the Ullr. What happened to winter?

While it is 'kiting', and Skyline keeps up its tradition of great wind and more snow than other locales... I would not recommend hitting the place up until more snow arrives, just my humble
