Strawberry/Powder Mountain Report?

Postby Kenny » Mon Nov 22, 2010 5:14 pm

The UDOT Camera is down at Strawberry. However, the Daniel's Snotel Mesonet site is showing a depth of 28", which should be enough to open up Strawberry River. Has anyone been up there yet? Anyone willing to sacrifice a couple hours to run up there and check it out? If Strawberry has enough coverage, Wednesday could be a sweet day there. If you go we want to know if the hills are covered at Strawberry River and if the creeks are still open.

Northern kiters, what's the coverage look like at PM?

I made a quick trip up to Strawberry to check out the coverage. I've attached the few shots that I took at Chicken Creek East. None of the parking lots were plowed. I wanted to stop at Strawberry River and take some photos but the shoulder was snow packed and I would have had to stop on the road. Not a good idea on that road even when it's clear. It looked about the same. Coverage looks like it's almost there. Maybe after this storm Strawbs will be on. If you want to do a downwinder bring your water board.

Nice, she's almost there for sure.... I bet after this cold snap this week you might be able to ice skate on the lake.
