i figured i'd cross post this here as i'm assuming some of you may have perhaps participated in this sport back in it's hey day in the 70's. slalom skateboard racing is back baby! it's been experincing a re-birth over the last 5 years or so. a group of us, including an ex-world champion have organized a national race down main street in park city on October 7th. i'm racing, as well as billy (i hope). we also have some top ranked racers coming in from california and colorado. i was hoping that i could do the following with this post:
1) get some oldie but goodie skaters to try their hand at slaloming again. i've got a quiver of new boards and a group practices up at redstone in park city every thursday night. anyone want to try it again?
2) possibly get some sponsors for the event. we have a lot of expenses becuase it's a fully sanctioned race. we have city fees to pay as well as insurance, rent a cops, portapotties, etc. we also need prize money. contact myself if anyone is interested.
3) get some crazy wind riders to cheer us on. it will be in the morning and perhaps we can head to DC afterwords if the wind is up.
check the following link for both the current word on downhill and slalom skateboarding as well as check out the contest registration.
thanks,
Mike May
