Had a few questions and thoughts on snowkiting.
What is the latest about kiting at the bird refuge in Park City? I know Derik Sayers was working on something two years ago, but never heard the outcome. I saw someone out there last year, but I don't want to be there if we aren't supposed to be. If its not legal is there anything that needs to or can be done to remedy the situation?
Could someone update the weather links to include the best sites for snowkiting Strawberry and Skyline. I know it is somewhere in the forum, but I read about new ones and have been told by people a bunch of times where to look and always end up losing it. It would make things easier for people. I end up getting skunked all the time and I hate to make the drive to look at the scenery.
I want to try and get a place near Strawberry and I'm wondering how close to Starvation anyone has kited. I have only been as far as Chicken Creek. Is the snow and wind any good down that way? Most the cabins I've looked at don't show pictures of what they look like in the snow.
Lastly, taken from the Pow Mountain thread, is there interest in setting up a local competition or doing a demo day closer to Salt Lake. It wouldn't be as nice as Skyline, but I figure you could get a lot more people out if you did something in Park City. I didn't make it down last year to the Ozone event, but it maybe nice to have a multibrand demo event to see the new gear, including Brian of course. Or doing something like a boardercross? I don't know what the a kite competition format is even like. I think something like this would increase the awareness of the sport in Utah and add some legitimacy to it. Plus, sounds like fun.
I also think it would be great to do a clinic with Chasta or someone, I think Brian may have done that before, but I missed it. Always nice to get some pointers for newbies like me.
Thanks for the replys and sorry for the late night rant, just lookin forward to riding soon,
Mike
