I'm headed to Mojave on the Wed. before Thanksgiving and would love to see some other Utah sailors. Destination is East Cottonwood, also known as "Gunnar's Cove". On the East shore of Mojave, just where it starts to widen out, across from 6-Mile Cove, about 20 miles as the crow flies from Laughlin. Not as windy on a North as Katherines, but it blows South as well, with big swells, which Katherine's doesn't.
Far nicer place to be than Katherines -- probably my favorite place in the Intermountain West to sail. Here's why: blue water, 3 mile reach to the other shore, beautiful little coves to rip jibes in, camp on the beach, rig once and leave it all there by your camp, no driving, great camping, no fees, one outhouse like that at Sulphur Creek, no people even on Thanksgiving weekend. Sublime peaceful camping and sailing. Gotta bring it all in since the nearest town is at least an hour and 1/2 away, but that keeps the riff-raff out. Some dirt roads for mtn biking too.
