caution answer- anybody have any experience

Postby MikE mAy » Thu Feb 01, 2007 8:38 am

anybody ever flown a caution answer or have any info they want to share with me? i met a kid who is flying them on the coast. he's coming here in a week or two and has a great deal on a new 12M answer. he's going to let me try before i buy, but i'm still trying to gather some info. he also wants to snowkite while he's here.

from what i gather, the bar dosent' have as much sheet in it as a waroo or other bows, but in combination with the depower strap you get a bit more. it's like a mid ground between a C and a traditional flat or bow. i've also heard it's super quick to fly. a 12 flys like a 9.

i'm thinking of buying one and want to get some local perspective on it. seems it woudl work great on waves and places that have consistant wind. i'm a bit worried about it depowering quick enough with the sometimes gusty conditions we get here. but then again, we have been riding C's here for a while so that may not be an issue. i'm also excited about the lack of pullys and the apparent wind you can generate becuase it pivots so quickly.

any help, rumors, tips, advice, verbal beatings would be appreciated on the matter.

thanks,

Mike

The caution answer is an excellent kite. Probably not as good as an instinct, but that depends on who you talk to. I have a bunch of Utah friends who fly caution and love them. They don't ride in utah much as they spend the summers in Santa Cruz and the gorge. Derry rips on his caution kites. I don't think you will have any problems with depower.
