Sand Hollow and Quail Creek info

Postby vernv » Wed Mar 21, 2007 4:32 pm

Does anyone have experience sailing at Sand Hollow or Quail Creek? I'm interested to know about typical wind conditions, launch sites, etc. We're heading down for the weekend and am hoping to wash the cobwebs off my gear.

Thanks, Vern

I asked this question not too long ago. Search the archives for "Sand Hollow". From what I remember, people weren't very positive about Quail, but Sand Hollow was ok. I'm going to be spending all summer down there, so let me know how it is.

Vern,

Good to hear you're getting your cobwebs taken care of... I've been capturing footage onto my computer from last 5 years of MiniDV footage...

Cobwebs are LONG GONE, all that I've got are ITCHES... Pumped to get back out there... Maui for 2 weeks in June should help...

Gotta figure out when to do the beginner clinic?!?!? Get your beginners ready...

SandHollow rocks dude

Blows best on a North clearing wind, South for some odd reason doesn't get in there. Great camping, a huge lake, super clean, dramatic rocks ala Moab going right into the water. Primitive camping and regular camping I believe. Its like a Jordanelle, brand new. Sara/Linda/Fred have gotten it on very windy days and loved it. email or call me to discuss more, plus I have photo archives.

We've had some great times at Sand Hollow. We haven't actually camped at the lake. They have a bunch of new camping sites and maybe we'll do that in a couple of weeks. Beautiful spot. (and the chics dig it.)

7 years ahead of schedule as to total visits already...Paul Bradshaw/Angie lived in Hurricane and never got it good...but a clearing North can blow for hours on end...
