Sulpher Creek Campout Races

Postby Josh Shirley » Wed Aug 08, 2007 12:37 pm

As part of this years campout I will host another windsurf race event.
This is the plan:

When: Saturday August 11th - Skippers meeting at 11:00 am.
What: course or slalom race depending on the wind. And two classes depending on the turnout (formula gear and slalom gear.)

Similar to the Utah Summer Games we will try to run 10 heats.

Scoring: 1 point for 1st place, 2 points for 2nd place, 3 points for third and so on. DNS or DNF gets the maximum points plus one.
If we can run 10 heats then each racing will be able to drop the 2 worst heats from their total score. Also I will have a running tally of points on a big white board in my sun tent.

Skippers Meeting at 11 am.

First heat will start as soon as possible. Each heat should only last 10 to 15 minutes. So don't drop your sail when you jibe or you will see a dry George Ward pass you up.

Courses: I think the formula boards deserve a triangle course and slalom boards deserve a figure eight course. Since we have a dock to officate from the start line will be on the water instead of beach starts.

And yes I will bring a stop watch this time so when I give the 1 minute warning you will truly have one minute.

RSVP's would be really helpful so I can plan better. I expect Steve Hicks to clean up so Erik, Rob, Carl, George, Rick Mc you guys had better get your game on.

GPS - Speed Board

Postby Josh Shirley » Thu Aug 09, 2007 2:53 pm

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I will also bring my laptop up as well with the gps downloading software.
So if you bring your unit bring the cables with it as well. Then we can download tracks right at the lake.

I am also packing Jason Morton's custom speed board. I am sure someone can break 40 mph on that. Ofcourse the wind will have to cooperate for that to happen.

Just so you know in advance. The dock was barely in the water as of last Sunday, 5 August. About 1.5 feet at the end of the dock, so we may still be doing beach starts, after all. But NO WEEDS!!!
