Where to ride in Park City?

Postby DevinClarke » Fri Mar 28, 2008 9:40 am

This has been my first year with a kite. My wife and I are hooked. We used to get skunked a lot more often before I found this forum. I appreciate everyones advice and help.

I spent Spring Break in Hermosillo Mexico on a medical internship. We went to Playa San Carlos for a day and some locals let me ride their 10M Best. Had a blast. I'm looking forward to riding UT lakes this summer.

We are looking to get a good snow session in tomorrow (29Mar, Saturday) before final exams consume our free time. We are thinking about Park City or Strawberry for a first time. We just don't know how to get there. We live in downtown SLC. Let me know if we'll find better snow/wind somewhere else. We are familiar with Skyline and Pineview.

Thanks,

Devon

Strawberry is probably a good bet tomorrow. It's best when the wind is out of the North, and that's what's forecast for tomorrow. To get there, head East on Interstate 80, past Park City, and take the exit for US 40/Heber City. Proceed South on US 40 through Heber City and up Daniels Canyon. About 20 miles past Heber City, you'll pass the Daniels Summit Resort (on your right). Keep going, you're almost there. The Strawberry area is huge, and there are numerous places to ride. The first popular one that you'll come to, Strawberry River, will be on your left, and if it's breeze, you'll probably see kites. Further down the road, you'll come to Chicken Creek East, Chicken Creek West, Ladders, etc. Again, if the wind is any good, you'll see kites.
