Lindon is as good as any other Utah launch, but it does not get the wind as strong or consistently as other Utah Lake launches.
Its been over a month since I kitesurfed Lindon, but there was enough room to set up a few kites and launch easily, with a shallow water walk out for the first hundred feet or more. Yes, debris everywhere....yup everywhere, but I still rode barefoot, just walk softly (and carry a big kite:)
For some reason Lindon sits just enough to the side of the valley, so that it gets good rides on the stronger North days, but the wind will die at Lindon right when South Sandy and Lincoln beaches kick on for the 'magic' evening air. After two summers at Lindon, I searched and found South Sandy, which so far seems to recieve the best winds on Utah Lake. I now only hit Lindon if its strong wind and I need a short session close by.
Last night was an anamoly, a bummer of one. It was super strong north wind in the SLC valley and at the paragliding park (Killer Utal Lake potential!). But a storm cell developed over Happy Valley kicking up South Winds and skunking the potential Lincoln sessions. Gotta love Monsoons. In condolence, Lindon probably wasn't on last night either.
