left you a message last night. i've got a work meeting tonight that i can't skip out of. i just got back from jackson last night. i'm so amped to ski/snow kite i can't believe it. i haven't felt this anxious to ski in a while. i thank kiting for that....

have fun tonight and be safe. i don't even know if i have a kite that wouldn't blow me away in the predicted 28 mph anyway. let me know if you head out again this week or this weekend. i want to get a kite in my hands again becuase it looks like we are still a month off from snow riding. i saw tracks over teton pass and i was way jealous.

oh, and for anybody- is jackson and the surrounding areas like snow kiting mecca or what? as i drove past all the empty fields on my way up to grand teton national forest i was having kite dreams.

DC was the call yesterday, 65 degree air temp - no gloves or hood required. Today you will need a hood, gloves, booties, and a dry suit. How small of a kite do you own? Looks like 7M bow or 5M C kite conditions. Really borderline conditions for being on the water. If you do go, don't go alone.

I am thinking about going to Lindon late in the afternoon, but I am going to wait and see how the day develops.

I should have gone out yesterday. I don't have a kite small enough for today. I may still go down and look. I spent yesterday landboarding around Heber on the DC southwind. Perhaps today will hold the same on a northwind. Its already blowing 25+ at the Provo airport...

Man I wish I had a smaller kite.....I have sails down to 3.5 for the Misses but...well you know its kiting not sailing

As a long time new england year round surfer The water or temp may not be the issue but the wind is thanks for the head up!

I've been watchin' it as well. I was overpowered last time (on my 10m C kite) so Kenny's idea of Lindon (where I would think there would be less wind) sounded a bit attractive till I talked to Apri and he said the place is trashed to the point that he wouldn't ride there (and remember that is 10 minutes from his house). So I don't know if Lindon is the call.

I must say that the 1" of snow on the ground is also a bit of a damper on my enthusiasm to go jump in 50 deg water. Looking up the valley it is kind of strange that Timp has a snow level of about 8,000 ft and by the time it gets to Hobble Creek the snow level is on the benches and then south of there the snow is in the valley so it must be colder the further south you go.

The other damper is that fact that PVU now shows lots of zeros. Go-figure. So it looks like a wait and see situation.

Thanks for the heads up at Lindon. I am sad to hear that the place has been trashed. A few years ago, it was a decent launch.

I just looked at PVU and it is showing 13 out of the WNW. However, with an air temp of 37 and a reading of 6 mph at Bluffdale it is hard to get enthusiastic. I took a look at other readings around the area and the wind speed and direction are all over the place. Doesn't look consistent and that is another bad sign. Looks like a bust today... The good news is that this snowfall should remain at elevations over 8,000 feet, so it is the bottom layer for our base at PowMow and Skyline.
