Getting started

Postby unimog50 » Mon Mar 20, 2006 10:47 pm

I am looking for some recommendations on gear for a beginner.

Is there anywhere around Ogden, UT that rents windsurfing/kite surfing gear?

Is it easier to learn to windsurf or kite surf?

If I were to buy gear, should I look for new or used, and if new where is the best place to shop?

Thanks, Nate

Nate,

I never learned how to windsurf, so I can't tell you which is easier to learn. You should look at both sports and decide which one is for you. In general, windsurfing is for those who like speed and kiteboarding is for people who like to jump. However, you can jump windsurfing and you can mighty fast kiteboarding.

As far as gear goes, I am not aware of anyone who rents kiteboarding or windsurfing gear in Utah. My recommendation is to take a lesson and then decide what type of equipment you want to buy.

Hey come to the SKM Event and try out snowkiting. It a little similar to kiteboarding. If you live in Ogden, you are really close to the BEST snowkiting spot in the World. Jacob Buzianis

Lessons and trainer kites

Postby stevemayer » Tue Mar 28, 2006 10:34 am

The guys at Cloud 9 Power Kites have a large selection of trainer kites, to ozone kites to water kites, the also offer lessons if you are just looking into it, or if you buy a snow kite, they will go out with you the first day and get you rolling.
