12/23 Pow Mow 10M Frenzy

Postby Augie » Wed Dec 24, 2008 7:40 am

I went to Pow Mow about 2:00, checked the wind and it was about 18 mph so I went for a short hike out to launch. The poma tow was not operating, and the wind was NW and gusty. The powder was deep with 26 inches reported in the last 48 hours. 54 inch base now with a big dump forecasted. The 10m barely could pull me through the deep stuff and all brush is covered. I kited till dark and then due to the wind direction I was not able to kite back to the parking lot, so I hiked out. Sure is nice to have tele ski's for the climb out. I got back to the car @ 5:30. If I knew beforehand how deep the snow was going to be, I would have rigged my 13M. My guess is that even Monte Cristo is covered now and would be a good place to go tomorrow and later today. Pow Mow winds will be approaching 40mph tomorrow, gusting higher. Be careful, I heard and felt lots of snowpack settling!
