2/14 Presidents day Strawb Marina Big kites

Postby mike loeser » Wed Feb 17, 2010 11:01 am

No one posted for the day, so I thought I'd do it.
Rode 17m kites on light wind at the marina. The usual suspects were present, Billy, Ryan, David, Trevor and Pete. Few others out on Frenzys. Had some long tacks across the bay, got stuck in some heavy snow and dead wind spots. Rode in some slushy snow, it was a bit warm. You don't want to sit in one spot for too long, a few tracks cut through to the ice.
The canyon was shut down for an hour or so due to an accident, so everyone went back up to the Summit for half pound burgers. I'm going to have to kite that off.
Nice way to end the day.

Those burgers rocked and the strippers that hand fed us the fries were incredible. Hope they shut the hyway down the next time I go.
Wait, that must have been the dream I had on the way home.

Man we should have turned around and joined you guys for burgers . . . Rachel, Fred and I sat in the car for an hour and a half in that canyon. We just turned off the car and started with the zombie stories. The entire weekend was killer - I had 5 straight days from last thursday up at strawberry with good rides every day. Monday the snow was getting a little on the heavy sticky side. The day before was epic just downwind of the ladders in what I like to refer to as the skatepark zone. All in all a killer week for strawbs. Hopefully tomorrow will give up some good rides. Anyone go up today? We need a good dump of fresh powder -wondering how much stuck after monday night.

Wax your gear. Getting the wax close is a big plus, my board gets done to keep up with the snow. Most days I may have some universal paste if it is crappy just ask if your slow.

Trust me the gear gets waxed on a regular basis but, you know who rode my board and how it was rode. My board is trashed and is very hard to maintane. You are not the only one
in the community that knows how to tune a board. This is what I have to ride and thats about it.

I'm not proud. I'll take some wax. maybe even on the top of my deck to keep that snow from sticking there and making it feel like i put bindings on Opra Winfrey.
