Grantsville - Morning Board Meeting - 8-4-2010

Postby Josh Shirley » Wed Aug 04, 2010 1:21 pm

I got to the board meeting a little late 9AM but that didn't stop me from joining the fun.
It was cloudy enough to block the suns glare which was really nice.
I pulled off the water about 11:30. As I left, around noon, it was still blowing hard. Looks like the wind died right after that.
Sailed a mostly resurrected JP Freestyle (paint job coming tonight) and 6.3 ezzy.

Too much sail. 5.5 would have been nice.

The water is decently warm for a lake, amazingly warm for Grantsville. Shorty weather.

Duane, Grant, Dimitri, and Matisse arrived before me.

Fantastic summer wind.

I'm really curious how much that Meteogram relates to Yuba.
My measly observation is that they blow in the early AM,
the same days.

Who's gonna test my theory????

I would suggest Painted Rocks campground, south end.
That is where I've had the best luck.
Sunrise to about 10:00 has been the best to me.
Ryan and Jason have done some Yuba research.

Fun place to camp and kite. The launch can be squirrely. It is quite cold kiting there in the early am. The wind also doesnt seem to have much punch so you need good light wind equipment and skill. Have fun and post pics!!!!
