Grantsville, 6/28/07, 85L, 6.0/5.7

Dawn Patrol time. I got there just as the sun came up and hit the water at 6:30. The wind meter on the pole was showing 22 to 29 mph so I had the Infinity pulled flat which was good because by the time I got on the water it was 27 to 30. 6:30 to 8:00 were smooth winds, like being in front of a fixed fan. After that it was more like and oscillating fan. But you can’t ask for more filled in winds. And the east side of the lake was flat ripping. By 8:00 I had already logged 28 miles at an average speed of 19 mph and peak speed of 33.7 mph; only at Grantsville. John F. joined me on a 5.7 shortly after I started and Mike E. and Carl joined us a little later. It blew harder and longer than expected. We all quit in a die-off at 10:15 but it looks like it came right back up after I left. I was only 2 miles short of 50 miles when I quit and that is a lot of turning at Grantsville.

Turning is fun and, at G-Ville, it's mandatory. Ken's right, it's a lot of turning, not exactly my forte these days so it's gotta be good for me.

Great morning. I enjoyed my new 5.6 hucker. It was smooth and fast, I'm thinking the mag. testers are a little off on their reports about this sail. I hope she gives it up tomorrow. See you guys on the water.
