1-12-08 Hogan Pass

After a few winters, we finally scored wind and snow at the same time at Hogan Pass. Located just south of I-70 on Utah Hwy 72 (a Snowkiter highway for sure, just like Hwy 31 to Skyline, I know they paved it for us, why else?)

Check out http://kiteutah.com/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=69
for a current lame description of the place. and check here http://kiteutah.com/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=77
for a good weather link.

Marty and I flew for 1.5 hours during Saturdays light north forecast. Seemed like west winds. started at 6 mph and peaked at 15 during the session I believe. I flew a 15 meter and was amazed at the power in the light winds and loved the performance as it picked up. Marty flew a 10 and enjoyed the flowers... :D

The area is sweet, terrain was a joy to ride, it literally funneled you upwind, downslope, downwind, outerspace, whatever you wanted it felt like. So many wind lips. Marty called it Udaho. which I think is true as its Utah's Idaho, with mountains meeting the desert.

We've never seen snow stick there yet, and its melting daily. Hope more comes so we can extend the season at Hogans beyond one session. Its worth hitting if you are on a road trip in Central Yewtah.
