6/8 DCIB, too late, maybe left too soon

Got to DC at 2:15 to see a couple sails planing nicely across the lake from the Midway road (Jim I think). By the time we rigged, it lightened up a lot. From Sundance Arrowhead it looked like the best wind was perhaps much earlier, 11:00-2:00? Matisse sailed for about an hour. I watched two hard-core triathlete women go for a long swim (brrr?) in preparation for next week's tri. When we left around 4:30, it had come up again and you coulda had some rides on big gear. Looked windier upwind (doesn't it always?). Pretty up there. No powerboats to speak of. Bit of a walk to the water, but not that cold in the shallows.

It was a little windier upwind ( it really was) around the point just southwest of the IB, but it took some time to get up. Mixed day of just sailing boat like and planing. But got some speedy runs half the time. Great views, little boat traffic and had some solo time on the water. I saw you as I came into the parking lot rigging. The wind tapered but was enough to get rides on my 8.5 and 140 Rocket. It sails easy like my carve but almost gets up like the formula. Arrowhead looked more promising luring me into the drive, but it was still good enough. I wonder what the correlation is between sundance and wind near the narrow upwind from IB and also the time differential. Had to leave for a friendly BBQ (in fact bbq'd with a buddy of yours JB (Brown) from a few years ago recounting harried stories from big frontal winds and the in between the line stuff). It may have been better at Sulphur Cr. but followed the Arrowhead. Looked like you guys were enjoying the afternoon.
