Lots of kiter's at the south end of the lake. I don't know what I was thinking? Rod and I tried our luck at Lindon beach. We had Waroo 15's trying them out for the first time. I got a small downwind ride and was lucky to get a ride back to the beach from a friendly boater. The wind was under 10 mph. I hope the north continues tonight - may try Lincoln Beach??? How do you get to Lincoln beach anyway? -Brad

Lindons really a south spot the north flow is weak there.

Lindon can be excellent on a north. However, the north wind sometimes does not fill into the beach if it is on the light side (10 -15 mph). However, if the wind is moderate to strong, Lindon will go off. The wind is more gusty at Lindon (similar to Rush).

Lindon is really iffy on a south. It may blow all afternoon or just for an hour or so.

What stinks about Lindon is the launch area is a favorite for pallet-burning red necks. So the beach is littered with glass, nails and other

Whats really weak is that it is off shore to side off, Not that the wind is (although it can be weak and gusty on a N). Sorry that was a poor word choice. I have had a handful of great south days there. I'll drive the extra 15-20 minutes to SSB or LB on a N before I'll drift there when some thing goes wrong.

That is odd. I have only had the wind side-off one time and that was when I kited on some thunder-bumper wind coming out of Alpine. Every other time it has been side-shore or side-on at Lindon.

I do agree with you that the extra drive to SSB or Lincoln is worth it. I like how the wind smooths out by the time it reaches the far end of the lake. I also like the flat water areas at the south end.

The interesting thing is that several years ago there was a muddy beach at the American Fork Boat Harbor. The AF Boat Harbor is about 1.5 miles north of Lindon. The wind at AFBH was much more steady than at Lindon and would fill-in every time there was a north wind. It was a muddy, sticky launch, but once you were on the water the experience was similar to the south end of the lake. If you look up wind from Lindon, the AFBH is much further to the west and juts out into the lake. I was sad to lose that spot.

We also used to have a couple nice side shore launches that are now covered. BYU beach was a sandy beach just south of the Utah Lake Boat Harbor and West South Sandy Beach was another sandy beach. They were the best launches on the lake, both offered side shore launches, sand, and you could drive up right on the beach. If those beaches were still accessible, I bet we would have twice as many kiters on the water as we have now. Because you could do great downwinders at both locations.
