11 meter ozone and 146cm board were plenty to go upwind but not much extra power for jumps from 2:00-4:00.

Lots of kites in the air.

Over 15 kites in the air, I took a ton of pics but have no idea how to post them. I'll work on it. More kiters then ever at DC lots of new faces. Ton of smoke moving up from the canyon fire.

had an hour and 15 mins or so on my 15 waroo. the first half hour was enough power to ride and stay upwind, but not a lot of power for jumping, wind was probably 13-16 mph. the wind improved for the last 45 mins, probably averaging 18ish before dying out quickly. was able to throw some decent jumps and worked on backrolls, landing them surprisingly easily, until one went horribly wrong. not even sure exactly what happened, but i over rotated it and i'm pretty sure i looped the kite when i was 1 1/2 rotations thru, got violently yanked backwards and i was in the air long enough, looking at the sky with my feet above my head, to appreciate how much it was going to hurt when i hit the water head first. No major damage, but it definitely shook me up a bit. Lynn was ready to come out of semi-retirement, but the wind died just as she was getting geared up.

Most kites i've ever seen at DC. A fair number of people i've never met before.

Bordy, probably the best way to post pics is to open an acct at shutterfly.com, kodakgallery.com or similar site. Free to sign up, then post a link to your gallery here. I'd like to see the pics from yesterday.

I headed out to Strawberry to camp after leaving DC yesterday. That was the first time i've been there in the summer. Kinda strange how much of what we were kiting on last winter was water. Wind happened to be 20-25 when i arrived around 6:30 or so. If i had a wetsuit with me, i could have easily ridden for a couple of hours. Water is a little cold, but it's probably warmer that Utah lake in april-may. Nice area, no trees but a lot of shrubs. Found one area to launch from just west of chicken creek. I'll keep an eye on that, probably would be nice on a warm day.
