Rather abrupt onset of SW wind a little before noon. By the time I got to IB (about 12:30, I think) gusts as high as 35 MPH were rolling through, interspersed with prolonged lulls (George, you did the right thing opting for G'ville!) What to rig? I settled for a 6.6, which was reasonably controllable in the gusts (they had mellowed out considerably by the time I got on the water) but didn't have quite enough power between gusts. Not long after I got on the water a swarm of kites appeared above DarkSide Beach. The next poleboarder to appear was DaveO (8.0 Retro/Futura133) followed a bit later by Steve Nyhus. Not epic, but pretty good for mid-summer in Utah.
