Sunday was up and down, weak wind, left at 4pm, and it may have picked up for Ted/Kellie, Chris on an 8.5. High water, no weeds, no mud.

Sat was powered up for Trip Houk/Judy. His Bic 140/7.4 combo made him a happy camper, he never came off a plane and put on a fine display of side to side sailing. Trip didn't get the memo about global cooking that even in the Alaskan Peninsula they are wearing shorties this summer. We're on a beach where the only shade is a thin lamppost, its 85 degrees, 120 in your car, and all 6 sailors are willing to die for that last ice cube. Its Hells Kitchen and Tripster is wearing at least 3 wetsuits! A dive suit, a longie, shortie, ducktail, a vest, tux and tails and babbling about "the sky is falling...over Kamas, see that one cloud!" Now I trust Trip, after all he's one of those elitist hedge funders at Merrill Lynch, you know the guys that wrote off 100B of sub prime debt, sent your Grandma to the poorhouse, and just kept sailing! Thanks to his saint of a wife, Judy ...Trip can sail guilt free. Trip did leave me with some sage financial advice as to the next hot global technology "Two words, he whispered "Kite Ing"....

The Uintah's are 43 degrees at night, and that slows the attack helicopter sized mosquito's from denting the side of your car at night. I slept in the Tin Tent because of advance karmic leanings toward a Bear Claw in the morning, let the bears eat the Cub Scouts instead, perhaps they left a bacon bit outside without thinking. No sense chumming the waters.

The 6am Sunday wake up call was brutal. Day 3 of the Burning,Cramping,Twitching Thighs Tour of Utah. Fri 6hrs at DC, Sat 6 at SC, oh with a tennis match that morning. Jim Southwick admits its the legs that take a pounding in chop and a wide board, he should know, rumor has it Jim has done up to 60 miles in a day. Only his GPS knows for sure. I said a quick Sunday prayer "Dear God in Coffee Heaven, please tell me Starbucks is open, I promise to only have one latte"..and bolted 21 miles on a mission for the crack house of coffee. Happy to report Starbucks is cookin' at dawn and they use the product too, so I set off on a cultural tour of Evanston. That took all of six minutes and I basically parked on side Main St to make the time stretch that far. Suds' Brothers Brewery is curiously next to a decent sized sign mentioning Evanston is the home of the Jamaican Bobsled Federation. I'm no Dimitri, he would have sussed out rare birds, bonded with horses, and given a lecture ala Mark Twain to the unwashed locals who's fashion sense leans toward baggy cut off sweatshirts.

The coffee wore off, I planted myself beachside and somehow I lived through the longest 4hrs in sports by waiting for wind and human contact. Got a few ripping rides on the 7.5, but less turns than Trevor and Troy Dubock, Day 156 skiing/hiking/summer Tramming at The Bird. They are pulling a Forrest Gump, going year round this year, Timp is next and they started hiking/skiing Alta last Sept 24.

John, I don't know what you're smokin but it sure is entertaining to read your posts. Indeed, it was a fine day at Sulfur Saturday (right in line with the prediction that Craig posted on his way to join the surf-rat dogs in the Gorge) I couldn't figure why, with a decent forcast, sunnyy skies that Pete, Gerrilynn, Ted, Kelly and John were the only locals in evidence. Maybe they're all saving their slalom work for the UWA campout. TAKE NOTE: The UDOT has posted closures in Parley's that weekend. Go Friday and take Monday off!
