9/1 Lincoln - Afternoon of Frustration

Postby Kenny » Tue Sep 02, 2008 3:23 pm

Arrived at 12:30 to honking wind. Put up a 9M and rode for 40 minutes. Wind backed down a notch so I went in and pumped up any 11. By the time, I was ready to launch the wind was even lighter. Rigged a 17 and went out underpowered for 30 minutes of slogging. Dropped the 17 and went to the Silver Arrow. Rode a bit on the SA, it would lull so much that I could barely keep the kite in the air and then gust enough for any upwind ride - just enough top keep me on the water until it shutoff completely. Packed up a wet foil, derigged 3 LEI's. Of course, then the wind came up again, but I had family commitments and had to go. I hope Dave got some rides, he was going out with his 13 when I left. Some days are just like that. If I were wiser, i would have gone from the 9 (my smallest kite) directly to the SA (my largest kite).

Some of us were wondering if it was possible that ULLB
was blowing harder than ULSSB.

Now we know it wasn't.

A lot of us made a good attempt at riding that day with no luck. The US Ski Team even gave it a go!

Just want ya'll to keep it in the proper prespective, Remeber 'that a bad day on the water is still better than a good day at work'. Or as in mine and Jeff's case, at rehab!
Missing being out there with you. See you out in the wind after the 1st of the NEW Year. Whowouldhavethunk, this waterboy, would be looking foward to the snow. Bring it on, but not too early.

Well Kenny,

I got some amazing shots of you and (oh crap I forgot his name...Peter?) standing in the water  . They'd be better if you were moving and I had a longer lens. Oh well. Maybe I'll crop them and post a couple here sometime.
