10/25 DCIB

Looking at the wind chart from yesterday, I decided to take my chances today. I drove up Provo canyon at about 2:15 and the wind was already blowing pretty good up the canyon. When I went past the dam it looked good a SBB, but I could see the wind line about half way down the lake and decided to continue down to IB because the launch is so much better. The wind at IB was calm when I arrived, but I could see the wind line coming down from rainbow bay. Rigged the 9.0 and went to park the car. As I was walking back down to the beach, the wind finally made it. On the water at about 3 getting good rides. Around 4 the wind had picked up and I was overpowered and went in to rig down. About that time, Jim showed up and went out on an 8.0. I rigged my 6.2 because my 7.5 is being repaired. I was surprised to get a lot of good rides on the 6.2. I knew I was going to be a little underpowered, so I went with a larger fin than I usually use with that sail, and it made a big difference. Jim and I sailed until the sun went down behind Timp. Used just a full 3/4 wet suit and booties and I was very comfortable. My hands did start getting cold after the sun went down. Saw about 5 or 6 kites down at the dark side too. It was a very good afternoon!
