It was a great afternoon. There must have been 25 kites in the air at Strawberry River alone. Jake and I went on a epic downwinder. We went past the gliding hill to a steeper section where it would be easy to gap the road. I kepthavimg visions of coming down right in front of a semi and kept my glides to one side of the road. We went across the road and then back upwind through a nice powder field to the little hill across from the parking lot.
Saw a lot of friendly faces. There is a good vibe in our local kiting community. Saw quite a few people learning how. It was a great day!

12m Waroo
What a great day again at Strawberry. I was surprised to see blue skies first thing this morning. Jason and I got up there about 10:00am as some of the first ones. It was fun to see all the kiters there. Strawberry is an incredible place.

We went to Chicken Creek.
I was on 11M Doug and Vern on 9M.
No hardpacked sled tracks.

nice picture Marty! it was great to ride with you and the crew. day #1 for me, but it was great. thanks Billy for letting Jason and I demo the new Manta's and the waist harness. i think i'll have to get me one of each.... no, the kites really flew great and have made me think twice about foils. i felt very secure up in the air and did some mini glides with ease.

for those of you looking for new skis, i had great success on my new bluehouse maven's today. 138 underfoot, and a flexy almost reverse camber really helped freshen up the snow and made the wind buff epic.

Chicken Creek was a treat. Too bad the crew was split up. Did Ryan show up at Strawberry River? Billy was the man of the day and hooked Mike M. and myself up with the use of some fine Ozone foils. Flew the 12m Manta and the 11m Frenzy. Mike M. rode the 10m Manta with some Bluehouse Maven rocker hybrids and destroyed all snow conditions. Billy gave us the red carpet treatment with tutorials, set-ups, instruction calore, and a much needed rescue for yours truly when I screwed up and found myself in deep snow and lots of sagebrush. Thanks Billy. Really want to try the 13m Frenzy.

Great to see the locals keeping it legit and making the "extra" drive for the sick snow and wind! Sounds like most folks at the river just didn't have the power we did. Lots of big airs and pow runs for all today!!

Soooo goood rode from 10:30 too 3:30....... I flew it all 10m manta then 11m FYX then went out lit up on 12 manta.....

Just a side note as some of you know I lost my keys to my lock box and have been forced to ride a snowboard again intill seeing the locksmith this morning!

If you have not ridden a twisted kiteboard then you don't know what you are missing! As soon as mine was gone I knew what I was missing as soon as i could ride it agin this morning I was beyond stoked!! Best snowkiteboard ever!!!

I rode at straw river with all the new kids. I had some good rides on the 13m bullaroo on the hill, wind was nice and the snow was good if you could stay off the snowmobile tracks.... Spent most of the day gettimg my bro-inlaw going, first day on a big kite and he loved it.

I was liking the wind much better than Fridays gusty wind. It was light but I was able to get everywhere I wanted to go. I had to take it easy due to a slight twist in my knee from Friday.
Here ar a few shots I took just as I was leaving of Kenny and Jake playing on the hill across the street.

I had the 15m out. On an otherwise great day for kiting i managed to have an extended EVA. I got a bridal wrapped after crashing the kite, anchored the bar with a ski and went to the kite to get it sorted out. While at the kite, a gust came along and pulled the kite out of my hands and the anchor ski out of the snow. I lunged for the bar but missed it and watched the kite drift downwind. I was south of the first hill to the south of the parking lot and noone was on my side of the hill. The kite stopped a few hundred yards away, so i thought, not so bad. I grabbed the one ski i still had (the other one went with the kite, still attached to the chicken loop), and started to make my way to the kite. Trying to walk just resulted in every step going down to my hip, so i basically crawled while leaning on the ski. About 5 minutes in, i had made it about half way to the kite, when another gust came along and started the kite moving again. This time i watched it go all the way to the big gliding hill, where it finally settled LE down into the wind about a quarter way up the hill. Still noone on my side of the hill... I crawled probably a half mile thru the snow - 40 minutes or so. about 200 yards from the kite, i heard a noise above my head and looked up to see Jake's kite. He towed me the rest of the way and got my lines sorted out for me. Thanks for the rescue Jake! All told, from when i originally crashed the kite to when i recovered it and got rolling again, probably took an hour and 15 minutes. With the 20 minutes of kiting before and the 20 minutes it took me to get back to the parking lot, that used up the time i had (i had to get back to PC for a 3pm slot to buy sundance tickets). Oh well...

On the bright side, i had what i would call my first glide. I was in the air long enough that i ended up flying backwards for a while. Anyone have advice on how you get yourself turned back around for the landing? I pretty much just crashed going backwards.

Just a note from my own adventures since I too have had several EVAs I always connect my Oh Shiiit, or flag out line to the anchor insteas of the chicken loop that way if a gust does come or the kite trys to power up then it should just flag out. I have had the kite try and drag my board but just the few pounds of weight seems to flag the kite.... Just a little tip make sure you undo the velcro if the flag out line has it.....
