1/6 Coop Silver Arrow 192 Tanker

Wind was light so it was Silver Arrow time. Enjoyed the sunrise on fluffy new snow. Had a fun time riding around the Coop area and down to the gliding hill. Took a couple flights off just for fun. What a great way to start the day!

Jim,

The reservoir was frozen last weekend. I kited at CC East and spoke with some Fishermen, they had their huts set up and said the ice was 5" to 6" deep (they have to drill through it) Last year I heard an 8" reading. If they are sitting on it, it's probably OK at least in the bays. The surface was very hard on the reservoir (ice) might have better snow cover by now? Much better on the surrounding hills. Whit

Jim,

I saw a lone ice fisherman out on the bay. Yes, it is frozen and yes, it is snow-covered. I don't know how much snow, but it is enough that I could not see any bare spots from my vantage point at Coop.

I arrived at Co-op around 130 with some friends from work, the wind was lite and up and down at the parking lot, I got them going on the trainer kite and I pumped my trusty 16m bullaroo and headed to the hills. The snow was nice with a few inches of powder on top, as soon as i got up on the hills the wind and snow was sweet. I rode solo for a 2hrs or so then headed back to the parking lot and the closer I got the gustier the wind got, if I stayed close to road the wind was much better as I headed back the wind would totaly die... As I was coaching my friends another kiter showed up I didnt catch his name.. I went back out and the wind was just enough to ride a bit then the kite would fall out of the sky so I came back in and called it .. the other kiter was having the same problem, I hope it picked up for him.... I'll take that every day over work....

Ry..
